SUSTAINABILITY COORDINATOR

ABOUT THE JOB

We have an exciting newly created role based at one our commercial management offices located in downtown Toronto. The Sustainability Coordinator will support the Senior Manager, Sustainability with the development and execution of the sustainability strategy for specific initiatives, setting and monitoring targets, reporting, capacity building training, and program implementation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for:

  • Provide technical expertise and insights for benchmarks and third-party sustainability certifications including: BOMA BEST, Fitwel, LEED, ENERGY STAR for continuous improvement across asset classes.
  • Support the ongoing development of corporate sustainability policies & standards and assist properties with updating tenant manuals to incorporate the latest sustainability requirements..
  • Conduct in-depth research and analytics to support strategy development.
  • Oversee and deliver reporting initiatives including GRESB, EWRB, Investor Annual/Quarterly/Monthly reports as needed.
  • Work closely with property and asset management teams, support properties with award and incentive applications.
  • Monitor, analyze and report on performance versus targets and benchmarks for energy, GHG emissions, water and waste.
  • Identify areas of improvement and support the develop of action plans to achieve results based on strong business cases.
  • Identify and communicate best practices, successes and lessons learned to key stakeholders.
  • Manage, maintain, communicate and deliver training on sustainability-related policies, events and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

To succeed, candidates must possess the following combination of education, experience and skills:

  • Undergraduate degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Urban Planning or a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in the field of sustainability with a focus on Commercial Real Estate.
  • Working knowledge of current concepts of sustainable real estate including energy conservation, resource/waste management, green building certifications, water conservation, greenhouse gas reduction, renewable resources, funding opportunities, and environmental reporting metrics.
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Proven track record of problem-solving, with the ability to make decisions.
  • Excellent communicator, able to work with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships with senior management, contractors and tenants.
